Hakim Does Bendels

Ya ya im slow on the uptake, but Bagsnob announced two days ago that the Lebanese designer Dareen Hakim (she makes those clutches with huge golden discs in the middle with Arabic words on them that everyone got 4 years ago from Karizma) is having a trunk show at Bendels in New York! Exciting! Even though i personally am not the biggest fan (but thats just my own taste- il nas athwaq) im always one to support an Arab designer! I'm sure the US market will be extra primed for this kind of thing after the "Oriental Middle-East -Glitz-'AbuDhabi'" crap hawked by SATC 2. I could totally see her fitting in with the Gossip-Girly over the top, kill-me-if-i-dont-have-the-it-hairband, glitz-bomb vibe at Bendels. I hope her maaahvelous success. If you are in the City-Where-Trucks-Never-Stop-Honking, head over to Fifth and show some support!

Mashallah!

I have never seen longer legs in my life! Incredible! She must feel like some beautiful, elegant spider all the time.

My Picks:
This Bodyamr capelet is gorgeous. I love how super-constructed it is. And the beading is fabulous!
Peter Pilotto Bolero- a riot of color and crazy confetti-beading all the way down the sleeves. Major Mardi-Gras vibe.
Erdem. 6ab3an i have a love affair with Erdem since i saw that lace collection in 2007 and went berserk. I think everything he does is divine, heavenly, worthy of the kings and queen of old, should be in a museum, etc. This puff-bottom-sleeved, lovingly embroidered, prim and properly ravishing scarlet confection is no exception.
Another Erdem. The length of the bodice, the height of the little sleeves and the richness of colour all come together in symphonious (ee kaify) harmony. The girl who walks into a room with this dress will gate the band playing. And stuff like that.
Random. But i imagined wearing this at the end of a bitter autumn with dark Church's Burwood brogues, mid- calf grandfather socks, a morose expression and a lone black ribbon in my hair as i hurry up to the Astronomy tower at 9 in the morning. Exciting. I really like Alexis Mabille.
Giambattista Valli. I don't need to explain why i like this.
These wraparound Marios Schwab shoes are veery sensual in an Argentine dance club kind of way. I like the silhouette, you really don't see much of it these days.

Damn You DSquared

I know these have been blogged to death but O.M.G. The bold, obtrusive, curved spine with the huge, weapon-like stocky black leather front make for a LETHAL combination. Lethal. Bryan Boy says they are comfortable too!
They are on a roll (I have never liked any DSquared item in my life prior to these marvelous successes! They continue with the bone theme with this nutty-dominatrix-ice-queen shoe with a silver finger bone heel. I love how the heel is not centered, it is just at the end, putting you on edge with the design. Its perfect.

Im Mad, Absolutely Bloody Bonkers for Hasan Hejazi

Look at those gorge bodysuits! The cut, the sheer side panels, the velvety sequin effect (have you ever heard of velvety sequins?) They sparkle like stars!! I want to sparkle like a star! No seriously i want them damned bodysuitsOh! Oh! Oh! Save me i'm drowning in this glittering sapphire sea of mermaidy, fish-taily, round-necked, laser-cut perfection. DROWNING
And I love goat fur. And dyed galactic-grape violet? kill me now its to diiiie
Perfection. Aesthetic perfection. Bodycon without being Herve, scuba without being casual, short and tight and mesh without being hipster. A miracle.
OMG. Peptobismol Goat? On Chest? Sheer inappropriate bottom? Sleeves? Facenet? too many question marks? You bet. This is ridiculous. It seems like he designed these while frustratedly working on a 1987 computer program and fantasizing about color while reading men who stare at goats i love it.
Come on!
That velvety perfection of silhouette once more.
They stock Hasan Hejazi (from Manchester apparently.. well the industrial city block jadedness certainly comes through fabulously) at Harrods now.
WHY DID I LEAVE LONDON????????? And how did i not know about this guy before?

FINSK Sample Sale-London

wow bad shot! In Mociun organic cotton space-print skirt, fringe-side top from Beyond the Valley, cuff and ak-47 necklace from The Great Frog
I was invited to the FINSK sample sale on Tottenham Court Road and got to meet the designer Julia Lundsten (i expressed my obsession with her shoes quite fervently thanks very much) and the people who were helping with the sample sale were so helpful and sweet! I loved them all. I got a pair of beautiful sandals that turned out too small :( madry shasawy feehom (i tried them on with tights and my feet hurt so i assumed they would be fine bes they weren't. There is another picture of these project shoes which were CRAAAZYYY but i cant show them to you because they haven't officially shown them to the press yet!
These are either prototypes or shoes they made for Basso and Brooke. The colours are so much better in real life! My camera is so crap. They had none in stock :((( (galatly they will ask around for me bes not sure they will be able to get them)
So much fun! And actually quite comfortable.
Pining after prototypes.
For Basso and Brooke
#6: The Old Curiosity Shop
The Old Curiosity Shop was immortalized by Dickens (a fan but i'm in the Wilkie Collins camp mates) in his novel, you guessed it.. the Old Curiosity Shop. Get off Holborn station, walk down the festive streets, past hordes of LSE students, stumble upon it, ring the bell. Oh what a treat! The terribly sweet designer and cobbler Daita Kimura is usually in. The shoes are quirky and will have you thinking you are some character in a novel where magic features prominently and people climb up and down ladders searching for long-forgotten history books and ornaments in clouds of dust. okay ill stop.

My favorites. The toes curl up over time and give the shoes added whimsy
I LOVED the mens shoes.

Jessica Alba wears Qasimi in Elle Korea

Remember this dress? (see prev. post)
Prooooooops! I love i love it!
The coverage over this shoot has been wide, why is no one giving him credit? Its not
allMcQueen you know! It is spec-tacular, spec-tacular!!! the way it just cuts up at the bottom? and the thin, membraneous (whatever thats a word) connecty shoulder things and the drama and assertiveness of the gold bustier create this air of a warrior-nymph in a different plane of existence where all is desert and pink trees you get me?
Mad jacket. but Elle really shouldn't have paired it with the necklace. It makes it look 80s, which it isnt.
G LOVE QASIMI!
